To keep up with these rapid-fire changes, the industry created the Canadian Equipment Industry Training Committee (CEITC) to:

• help guide skill upgrading and development for workers in the industry, and
• generate interest among talented young people in equipment industry career opportunities.

The Committee has equal representation from management and labour (see members list) and a business plan to the end of the century. Bolstering the key goal of ensuring a reliable supply of skilled and talented workers, the Committee's focus is also on four other areas:

• sharpening the awareness within the industry of training/human resource issues within the equipment industry
• enhancing public awareness of career opportunities in the equipment industry;
• creating partnerships between the equipment industry and training/educational institutions
• participating in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal) occupational analysis, validation, examination preparation and item banking.
