Committee members look back with justified satisfaction at CEITC's many achievements since its inception.

To enhance public awareness of career opportunities and improve the image of the equipment industry, CEITC worked closely with educational institutions and guidance counselors to encourage students to consider entering service and parts technician careers. This effort centred on an Awareness Campaign entitled "Great Job - Solid Future," a set of tools to promote the industry and its job opportunities. The toolkit included a pamphlet, fact sheets, and a video accompanied by a facilitator guide. These career awareness products were received with enthusiasm by students, teachers, guidance counselors and the industry. You can order these tools on line.

To develop partnerships among the industry, training/education institutions and governments, CEITC held consultations and maintained ongoing, direct communication with educational institutions involved in heavy equipment training. It has become a member of Canadian Association of Motive Power Educators (CAMPE) and works closely with the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA). CEITC also updated and maintaint a list of all community colleges and École de formation professionnelle in Quebec, who provide Heavy Equipment Service Technician training.

To assist in heavy equipment technician occupational analysis and validation, CEITC worked with CCDA and HRDC on the development of the Red Seal Occupational Standard for Heavy Duty Techicians, which was completed and published in October 1998.

To raise the awareness of training/human resource issues in the equipment industry, CEITC produced a pamphlet directed to industry members, so as to increase their support for and participation in the Committee's efforts. It helped the industry to understand the role of the Committee and recognize the value of working together to solve human resource issues. CEITC also regularly published articles in trade magazines and met CAED members at every opportunity.
