About CAED

The Association was founded in 1943 to unite and represent the now over 1500 firms that provide equipment to the construction, forestry, mining, marine, and oil-and-gas industries in Canada and around the world. We also serve an allied membership of manufacturers, financial organizations, trade media and specialized service firms. CAED is governed by a Board of Directors made up of dealer executives from across the nation. Provincial Chapters also have boards and arrange activities at the local level.

Our mission statement calls for:

  • cooperation between manufacturers and distributors
  • communication among members
  • encouragement of environmentally sound business practices

Our Activities

The establishment of the Canadian Equipment Industry Training Committee in response to the evolving human resource needs being experienced by industry members. CEITC's primary goal is to attract, recruit and maintain a competitive workforce in the heavy, medium and light equipment industry. For details on CEITC, check the Training Committee page.
CAED represents the equipment industry in its dealings with federal and provincial governments. We focus on issues such as small business investment tax credits and the development, harmonization and implementation of regulations. For example, we have helped industry to implement the federal and provincial waste management regulations and to participate in the federal Infrastructure Program.
Our ongoing liaison with other industry associations, national and international, provides us with comparative market information and a better understanding of business practices. This knowledge is put to use for the benefit of our members.
